The Glasgow Academical Cricket Club was formed, as part of the overall Glasgow Academical Club, in 1866. Despite early setbacks with playing numbers during the early years, from 1905 onwards the Club went from strength to strength after its move from Burnbank to Anniesland. By the early to mid 1900s, the 1st XI had won its place in first class club cricket, tasting success in seasons 1929 and 1932 winning the regional Rowan Charity Cup. Today, the "Accies" Cricket Club continues to thrive, providing excellent coaching and facilities for a wide a range of players, running two Saturday league teams, a Sunday friendly XI and a Midweek T20 XI, with Junior teams at four different age group levels, ensuring all levels are catered for, further benefitting from the services of Vedam Hariharan, one of the few ECB level 3 qualified coaches in Scotland.
